microscope workshopMore than 450 Winnipeg kids shopping with their parents on Saturday, March 20, 2010 had the opportunity to become junior scientists at a Let's Talk Science activity booth.

Let's Talk Science volunteers from the University of Manitoba manned six, fun hands-on activity stations at St. Vital Shopping Centre in Winnipeg, Man., where kids got to "sew an E.coli", make DNA strands out of candy, extract DNA from strawberries, make slime and participate in chemistry and microscope workshops.

"It was extremely fun," said David Tang, Let's Talk Science coordinator at the University of Manitoba. "We had parents that stayed over two hours with the children, doing all six stations."
